“Olsator“ Bridge
The “Olsator” Bridge is a stone arch bridge with three arches.
It spans the eastern section of the moat.
Construction History of the Arches
Old engravings show that the “Olsator” Bridge originally had only two arches. The third arch was added after the drawbridge was removed.
Parts of the Bridge | Description
Three Arches
The central arch is the highest of the three. The ring stones (voussoirs) forming the arch rings are clearly visible in all three arches.
Two Piers
The two masonry piers are robust and strong enough to carry the weight of the bridge, as well as pedestrians and vehicles.
Parapet
A wooden parapet runs along the bridge.
Passage Across the Bridge
Today, vehicles and pedestrians regularly cross the bridge to enter the medieval fortified town.
