Narrensteig (Jester’s Path)
The Narrensteig is the shortest route from the main square to the Petersberg castle ruins.
A narrow opening in the Kirchgasse leads the visitor to the windy path. Wooden steps have been fixed along the path to ensure a safe climb. After crossing the midway point, a wooden pavilion with benches is a nice resting spot and provides a vantage point with excellent views over the medieval town.
In September 2021, the steps of the Narrensteig had to be renovated. The municipality of Friesach asked the population for help in carrying the raw material that was required for the renovation. Around eighty people responded to this call.
They carried the building materials (gravel in buckets and wooden beams) to the intended spots.
The municipality of Friesach provided the material.
