Hauptplatz 11 | Villa Bucher
History
The Villa Bucher, formerly known as the Metnitztalerhof Inn, served in earlier times as the mining judge’s house.
It consists of two medieval buildings from the first half of the 13th century, which were extended in the 14th century and remodelled in the 16th century.
The simple facade dates from 1988.
Architectural Features
The historical property at Hauptplatz 11 now houses the “Villa Bucher – Hotel & Restaurant”.
Its three-storey facade is simple yet elegant. It is articulated by a horizontal string course that lends structure to the frontage.
Symmetrically arranged windows with dark-grey shutters and subtle plaster surrounds create a calm and harmonious appearance. Flower boxes at the windows add charm and a welcoming touch.
The tiled roof, covered in red clay tiles, is punctuated by prominent dormer windows, bringing additional light into the attic floor.
At street level, large glazed windows and an arched doorway face the porch. A modern glass canopy extends over the porch. A covered entrance connects the building to the square.
A heraldic relief on the facade recalls the building’s traditional function as an inn.
