Architectural History
The townhouse at Hauptplatz 6 presents itself as a modest residential and commercial building.
It was built in the 19th century while incorporating earlier structural fabric dating back to the 16th century.
Architectural Features | Exterior
Storeys
The townhouse is a two-storey structure. Partially exposed rubble masonry visible in the attic level indicates that the building originally featured a second upper storey.
19th-Century Facade
The present facade dates from a remodelling carried out in the early 19th century.
Horizontal Articulation
The facade is horizontally articulated by a broadly profiled eaves cove and a continuous crowning cornice.
Upper Floor Windows
The first-floor displays six irregularly arranged window axes. The windows are framed with plain surrounds. Each window has a straight sill and a decorative motif in the lintel zone.
Ground Floor
At ground-floor level, a flat-arched portal and shop installations dating from the 1920s and 1960s are preserved.
Facade Colour and Finish
The facade is rendered in a light green tone and articulated with crisp white window and door surrounds.
Roof
The building is capped by a red-tiled gabled roof with a fire wall gable.








16th-Century Passageway



In the outermost axis on the right, a vaulted passage dating from the 16th century leads into Fleischbankgasse.
A protective guard stone has been preserved.
