The building was first documented around 1600.
Between 1700 and the 19th century, it remained continuously in the ownership of a shoemaker.
Architectural History
The original fabric dates back to the 16th century.
The house was remodelled in the 19th century.
Additional extensions and alterations were carried out in 1985.
Architectural Description
Location
The property is a corner building situated at the junction of the main square and Kirchgasse.
Axes
Facing the square, the building presents a plainly designed three-axis facade articulated by a broadly moulded eaves cove.
The facade facing Kirchgasse comprises three axes of the historical fabric, complemented by a four-axis extension added in 1985.
Windows
The windows feature slender, rod-like surrounds and date from around 1900.
Redesigned Ground Floor
At ground-floor level, the building underwent a modern redesign; the existing marble cladding dates from the period 1983–1985.
Roof and Dormers
The building is covered by a hipped roof and features a fire-wall gable.
Three hipped-roof dormers face the main square. Additional dormers are oriented towards Kirchgasse.
