Hauptplatz 9
Architectural History
The residential building at Hauptplatz 9 has its origins in the 14th century and was extended in the 16th century. Its present facade dates from the mid-19th century.
Architectural Description
This two-storey building rests on a rendered plinth with a stone-like finish, giving it a solid visual base.
The windows are arranged in a regular rhythm within rectangular openings. On the upper floor, they are framed by simple plaster surrounds topped with horizontal cornices, lending the facade a restrained articulation.
A round-arched entrance with a wooden door forms the main access to the building. To one side, a broad double-leaf gate with a timber frame and contrasting coloured panels provides additional entry.
The structure is crowned by a pitched roof clad with red tiles.
Although the overall design of the facade is plain and functional, subtle architectural details create a sense of balance and dignity, reflecting the building’s historical development.
